Bibliografía y Citación son dos términos que se utilizan en la metodología de la investigación y es importante conocer la diferencia entre ellos. La bibliografía se refiere a la lista de libros y revistas a los que hace referencia el investigador al escribir su tesis o disertación. Contiene la lista de libros en orden alfabético, ya sea mostrando los títulos de los libros o los nombres de los autores de los libros. Por otro lado, una cita es una referencia a una fuente publicada o no publicada. Una cita es una expresión alfanumérica abreviada que se incluye dentro del cuerpo de una obra, para denotar una entrada en la referencia bibliográfica. Esto se hace en un intento por reconocer la relevancia del trabajo del otro escritor para el tema de discusión en el área o lugar particular donde aparece la cita. Esta es la principal diferencia entre bibliografía y cita.

¿Qué es una bibliografía?

La bibliografía es muy fácil de entender. Se destaca del resto de contenidos de la tesis o la disertación, ya que aparece como una lista hacia el final del artículo. El propósito principal de compilar la bibliografía es que el lector conozca los libros y revistas a los que se ha referido como investigador al escribir su tesis o disertación. Una bibliografía es una lista que contiene todas las fuentes que el escritor utilizó cuando estaba escribiendo el artículo. Cuando decimos todas las fuentes, se incluyen las fuentes que realmente se citaron o parafrasearon en el cuerpo del artículo y las que se consultaron pero no se utilizaron en el cuerpo del artículo. Entonces, la bibliografía no es solo una lista de fuentes que el escritor ha utilizado. Es una lista completa de fuentes ya que incluso incluye aquellas que el escritor solo leyó para tener una idea de su tema. Una bibliografía está en orden alfabético. Eso generalmente se decide por el apellido del escritor. El formato de la bibliografía es el mismo que el formal del artículo. Diga que está escribiendo el artículo en formato APA. What is a Citation?

A citation is how you quote the source of the ideas within the body of the research paper. A citation is usually put at the end of the sentence within brackets. Generally, this citation includes information such as the author’s surname, date of publication or the page number in which the part you have taken the idea appears in the original book. This citation method also changes according to the format you are following. See the following examples.

APA – ‘Her past would not let her be at peace (Martin, 2014).’

MLA – ‘Her past would not let her be at peace (Martin 251).’

The purpose of citation is intellectual honesty. You want to give due credit to a particular author for the quotation you have picked from his work in support of your work. Citation occurs at various places wherever there are relevant quotations.

What is the difference between Bibliography and Citation?

• A bibliography is a list of all the sources the writer has used when writing the paper. This includes the sources that were actually cited or paraphrased in the text as well as the ones that the writer just read to have an idea of the topic.

• A citation is how you quote the source of the ideas within the body of the research paper.

• Both bibliography and citation differ from each other in terms of their purpose too. The main purpose of compiling the bibliography is to let the reader know the books and journals you have referred to as a researcher in writing your thesis or dissertation. On the other hand, the purpose of citation is intellectual honesty. That is why you include the citation wherever you have quoted someone directly or paraphrased their ideas. This is another main difference between bibliography and citation.

• It is very important to know that both bibliography and citation jointly contribute to the formation of a thesis or a well-written dissertation.

• La bibliografía suele aparecer hacia el final de la tesis. Por otro lado, la cita ocurre en varios lugares donde hay citas relevantes. Normalmente, la cita se coloca al final de la oración.

Estas son las diferencias muy importantes entre bibliografía y cita que debe conocer un investigador. Como puede ver, todas las citas que utilizó en el cuerpo del artículo aparecen al final del artículo, bajo el nombre de bibliografía, junto con las fuentes que no fueron citadas.
